Liberty Health and Rehab Administrator Chosen as a Future Long Term and Post-Acute Care Leader for National Organization

Liberty Health and Rehab is proud to announce that Nicola James, administrator of Royal Park of Mathews Rehabilitation and Health Center, has been chosen by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a member of the 2025-2026 Future Leaders program. Selected participants demonstrate both leadership potential and represent the interests of the long term care and post-acute care profession. James will join 39 other leaders for the AHCA/NCAL’s 20th Future Leaders program, a year-long program that offers training and guidance for industry professionals.
“I want to extend my sincerest congratulations to our new class of Future Leaders,” said Clif Porter, president and CEO of the AHCA/NCAL. “Their dedication, innovation, and compassion represent the very best of long-term care. I look forward to seeing how they will shape the future of our profession and advocate for those they serve.”
“We’re proud to support the next generation of leaders in assisted living,” said LaShuan Bethea, Executive Director of the NCAL. “Each of these individuals has shown remarkable dedication to delivering high-quality care and improving the lives of those they serve. The Future Leaders program will help them build on that foundation and equip them to lead our profession into a brighter future.”
James is a dedicated and compassionate healthcare leader with over 17 years of experience in skilled nursing, including 13 years as a nurse and four years as a licensed nursing home administrator. She holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and is a proud graduate of the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association (NCHCFA) Institute for LTC Leaders. James currently serves on the NCHCFA Planning Committee, where she contributes to initiatives that advance the quality of long-term care across the state.
“My leadership style is grounded in empathy, teamwork and a hands-on approach,” described James. “I’m passionate about creating a positive environment for both residents and staff, and I believe meaningful, one-on-one connections are the heart of exceptional long-term care.”
The AHCA/NCAL developed the Future Leaders program in 2004. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction and leadership. The year-long program kicks off with the “Future Leaders of Long Term Care in America” Symposium held every September in Washington, D.C.
By participating in this program, James will hone her knowledge and leadership skills to help advance quality and promote Liberty Health and Rehab’s mission of providing the highest quality, resident-centered care to those we serve.
